We use the P–12 Curriculum, assessment and reporting framework (P–12 CARF) to inform and guide our whole school approach to curriculum planning and delivery, and assessment and reporting. The P–12 CARF specifies the requirements for all Prep to Year 12 Queensland state schools to deliver a world-class education. The P–12 CARF sets out the requirements for all schools ensuring the:
- right of every child to access education, primary and secondary, appropriate to their needs,
- provision of a high-quality education supporting every student to succeed through each stage of schooling in a safe and supportive learning environment, and
- success and wellbeing of all students through inclusive education responsive to the needs of perse learners.
As outlined in the P–12 CARF schools are required to document, retain, and monitor or review their whole school curriculum, assessment and reporting plan which details how and when all Australian Curriculum learning areas and/or subjects will be provided. It includes three levels of planning:
- Provision of whole curriculum plan
- Year and/or Band plans for each learning area and/or subject
- Unit plans for each unit of work for each learning area and/or subject.
Please see our school's Whole school provision of curriculum planning 2024 (PDF, 177KB) document for more information.
Planning, assessment and reporting data
We use the three levels of planning, assessment and reporting data, as part of moderation processes to:
- review and refine decisions about how we provide the Australian Curriculum, and
- respond to the perse learning needs of their students through differentiation that becomes increasingly personalised at each level of planning.
Key learning areas
Students will be taught, assessed and reported on all eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum. The 8 key learning areas are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
- Health and Physical Education (HPE)
- The Arts (Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Media Arts, Dance)
- Technologies (Digital Technologies, Design and Technologies)
- Languages (assessed and reported on in Year 5 and 6 only).
